7 July 2025Upcoming AGM

Thanks to those who stayed around for our Annual general Meeting yesterday. We discussed a lot of things and it was great to see some members put their hand up for the Committee or volunteer to assist with a committee member in some role. The Minutes of the AGM will be available on the web site on the Administration page.

23 June 2025Upcoming AGM

Our Annual General meeting will be held following the next game at Bankstown on 6 July 25. The AGM provides an opportunity to steer the future of the Club. Note there is a notice of motion regarding the change to the member’s representative role. A notice of motion is required to change the Constitution.

We are lacking nominees for the Committee??????

12 June 2025Next two Old Mates games at Bankstown

Bankstown Golf Club advises that our hit-off time on Thursday 17 July has been pushed back to 10.30 and another event on 18 September means that the course is not available.

Please let me know if you are happy with the later start on 17 July?

The Thursday before and the Thursday after are available. Do we move to one of those dates or should we try for another course on 18 September?

27 May 2025Important decisions from May Committee meeting

Kevin advises that he will not be seeking re-election at the 25/26 AGM. Thanks for all your dedicated hard work Kevin!!! Maybe time that you put your hand up to be part of the Committee? Nomination forms will be available at the next 2 games.

Mark is now doing test time allocations.

Notice of motion: Change to Constitution

That the position of Members’ representative be renamed to that of Club Vice-Captain. The role of the Member’s representative would be maintained but additionally the Vice Captain role would have the additional responsibility to support/deputise for the Club Captain.

2-ball ambrose championship

This issue was raised at the previous AGM. The Committee decided to implement the by-law as written. The by-law states that the team should consist of a division A player and a Division B player. The actual split of the divisions will be determined closer to the event.

Presentation

ClubGrants does not allow for money to be spent on food or drink. This naturally has implications for our Presentation. Alternative arrangements will need to be investigated.

6 July 2025 Upcoming Annual General Meeting

Don’t forget the AGM is coming up following the game at Bankstown on 6 July. You can nominate for a position on the Committee up until then. Good if you could let me know if there are any issues you want to bring up????

15 May 2025 (Update)Woodville game cancelled

Woodville Golf Course is closed today and tomorrow. Kevin and Steve have discussed the likely scenario for our scheduled game on Sunday. In light of the weather forecast and the fact that there were only 10 starters for Sunday with the likelihood of no carts bringing our numbers down to 4-6 it has been decided to call the game off. This decision has been made now so that you can plan your weekend accordingly. Certainly has not been our best year weather wise!

15 May 2025 (Update)Old mates: Auburn Tennis Club Challenge

On the 15 May 2025 a challenge will be played between Auburn Tennis Club Social Golf and our Old mates at Bankstown Golf Club. The event is a two-ball ambrose. Auburn Tennis Club has 10 players joining us. The teams for each club will be drawn from a hat, with a Bankstown pair to play with an Auburn pair. Auburn Tennis Club is supplying the prizes for this event. Nice to see clubs from the Bankstown Sports Group coming together.

1 August 2025Bankstown Sports Group Golf Challenge

The Challenge is to be played on 1 August 2025. Teams from Auburn Tennis Club, Baulkham Hills Sports, Bankstown Golf Club and us. Teams of 8 to 12 required. The event is a 2-ball ambrose. Hopefully this can become an annual event.

Note the 1 August is a Friday, so if you are interested start organising your “rec” day, RDI or sickie.

13 April 2025Disappointment at the Ridge

Unfortunately the Ridge game had to be cancelled due to a misunderstanding with the booking arrangements. Some members were able to play a social game. Mark Kari and Mark Dimond played the second round of the matchplay as Mark Dimond is not available on the Anzac weekend. Rescheduled matchplay to be advised.

Seems the Bankstown Sports Club has appointed a preferred supplier for equipment and uniforms. New Balance/Belgravia Apparel will display samples at the next Sports Network meeting on 6 May 2025

11 April 2025Trip away

To date we have no booking for the trip away. Volunteer organisers have been asked but nobody has put their hand up to make the trip away happen???? Anyone interested?????

Bob and Barbara Toogood recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

16 March 2025Treasurer resigns

Jim Gardner our long-serving Treasurer, and life member of the club advised that he had had enough of the goings on at the Club and that he would not be playing with anymore. An unfortunate situation and thank you Jim for your long service to the Club. Robert Goodall has volunteered to fill in until the AGM in July.
