GAMES 25

CAMDEN GAME IS OFF DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Annual General Meeting to follow this game.

Are there any division 2 players who can’t make the second round.
Under the by-laws for the 2-ball ambrose championship one player must come from Division 1 and the other from Division 2. To assist you to form your teams the two divisions are shown below.

Important update: New start time for Bankstown.
Our tee time is now 8.40am

It’s official, Woodville Golf Course is closed until at least Monday.
Woodville game
Woodville Golf Course is closed today and tomorrow. Kevin and Steve have discussed the likely scenario for our scheduled game on Sunday. In light of the weather forecast and the fact that there were only 10 starters for Sunday with the likelihood of no carts bringing our numbers down to 4-6 it has been decided to call the game off. This decision has been made now so that you can plan your weekend accordingly. Certainly has not been our best year weather wise!

Fox Hill has advised that there will be no carts permitted tomorrow.

Bankstown course is to be closed, today’s game is cancelled!

Due to withdrawals, tee times have changed slightly.

A reminder to let me know if you are waiting on a shirt, jacket or vest.
Still looking for volunteers to organise the trip away. No volunteers, no trip.

As you probably know we received a new batch of shirts (including some long sleeves), jackets and vests. Please let me know if you are waiting on a shirt, jacket or vest.

Happy New Year and all the very best for 2025.
Please check start sheet for 12th January 2025. Still don’t know some members’ intentions.
Reminder thast due to the fact the the Sports Club granted us only a third of what we asked for, green fees will be increasing by $10 in 2025.
For those who would like to import the 2025 golf fixtures into their computer calendar you need to use a formatted file. My thanks to Viet who had the idea and has formatted these files for our use.
Unfortunately I can only make the Mac version available here due to web restrictions. If you want the PC version let me know and I will send it to you.

Our presentation day will take place at noon on 1 December 2024 at the Bankstown Sports Bowling Club.
For your interest in the 3 years that our web site has existed we have had almost 10 000 visitors and 50 000 views.

NOTE: Wallacia tee time is now 7.00am.
Kevin and I visited the Bowling Club today to finalise arrangements for the Presentation on 1st December. The caterer is keen to get numbers as soon as possible. Below is an attendance sheet. If you haven’t done so already please let me know if you are coming or not, whether you are bringing a partner and whether you or your partner have any special dietary requirements. Numbers are needed by the end of the week so please get back to me ASAP.
Current Wallacia start sheet is shown further down. Please check that your intentions are shown correctly!!!!

The Coast Golf Course
We have been advised that the green fees at the Coast have risen to $105 per player, with carts at $55. The Committee considers that this course has now priced itself out of the market, as even with our subsidy we would have to charge our members $80 (with the cost of a cart on top of that).
The Committee are of the opinion that our booking on 24the November should be cancelled. Kevin is trying to find a substitute course.
We are in luck! Kevin has obtained a booking at Wallacia to replace The Coast game. 7.30am tee-off.
Early start sheet for Glenmore Heritage Park (replacing Eastlakes game) on 10th November 2024. Yet to be decided how teams are to be formed. Please let me know if you are intending to play if not shown on the start sheet already.
10 Nov update:
The game that was to be played at Eastlakes on the 10th November will now be played at Glenmore Heritage Park at 10.56am with 6 carts available.
This is the first round of the 2-ball aggregate championship so if you intend to play let me know your team as soon as you can. (Alternatively we could draw teams out of the hat?
- Social golf club members are encouraged to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting of Bankstown Sports Club to be held on Monday 4 November 2024 in the Grand Ballroom at 7.00pm. Support the club that supports our club.
- Kevin is trying to find a replacement course for the Eastlakes game on 10 November. You will be advised as soon as a course is found if it is possible to do so.
- An error was made in the totals in the championship. See corrected final results for Championships at: https://bsmenssocialgolf.com/competitions/

Please note I mistakenly listed Peter Toogood instead of Pete Stanley as a medallist.

Trip away
For those going on the trip away, Bill needs you to pay your remaining balance at Cabramatta this Sunday. Bill has done a lot of work to organises the trip away this year so please help him out by paying in full.

First aid officer?
At a meeting with the Sports Club recently the issue of a first aid officer was raised. Wondering if any of our members have first aid qualifications?

Kevin received advice yesterday that our booked game at Eastlakes on 10th November has a tee off time change due to their Club Championships. They also advised that it is unlikely that carts will be available. This game was meant to be the first around of the 2-ball aggregate championship.
The poll below wants your opinion on whether we should proceed under these conditions. Appreciate it if you could complete the poll as soon as possible as the outcome may mean that we have to try to book something else.

Please check that your intentions are shown correctly.

Late changes to tee times due to late withdrawals.

Here is the result so far of the poll regarding the 12 o’clock starts at Bankstown from 2026. Committee to discuss.

Grouped by finishing order in the first round.

Please let me know if your intentions are not shown correctly.

New club shirts
Kevin is about to order our new club shirts. We need to know the sizes to order so please have a look at the size chart and let me know what size you require. Half chest measurement is probably the most important.

Liverpool, 16 April 2023 cancelled
Sorry to say you can leave the clubs in the garage for this Sunday at Liverpool.
Kevin rang on Wednesday to confirm our booking and has been told today that we are not booked. Seems there has been a change of personnel since Kevin booked this game in 2021 and they now don’t have our booking. Kevin has tried to book at an alternative but at this short notice it was impossible to find any other course that could take us.
You will be advised of another date when the 2-ball ambrose round can be played.

Trip away 20-23 October 2023
John and Bill have been working on arrangements for another successful trip away. The weekend is 20–23 October 2023.

Seems we are going south with Gerrigong, Port Kembla and Kiama courses already booked. There is a Facebook poll where you can indicate your intentions or I have sent an SMS to those not on Facebook to SMS me back.

Bill getting excited about the October ’23 trip away
Kevin was told by Bankstown GC members that they timed our groups yesterday and one group was 15 minutes behind the group in front of them (don’t know what group it was). We are being watched so please do your very best to avoid slow play and keep up with the group in front of you!!!!

Very pleased to see members turn up tonight for amalgamation vote with Bankstown Golf Club. Bankstown Golf Club is now part of Bankstown Sports. Kevin is hoping to arrange a meeting with the General manager to discuss the ramification for our social club.
Reminder: Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at Bankstown Sports on Monday the 10 October, 7.00pm on Level 2.
The EGM will vote on the amalgamation with Bankstown Golf Club. As this may impact on our social club, members are asked to attend.
The Ridge update
Kevin has been informed that carts will not be available at the Ridge on Sunday. At this stage the course is open but that may change if the rain continues.

Bankstown Sports: Extraordinary General Meeting
An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Sports Club is to be held at 7.00pm, the 10 October on Level 2 of the Club. The purpose of this meeting (among other things) is to consider the amalgamation of the Bankstown Golf Club with the Bankstown Sports Club.
Members of the social golf club are encouraged to attend as we can only assume that this amalgamtion will be of benefit to our club and that we should support the amalgamation.

For the next four games you will see two handicaps on your card.
The first is your handicap for the Championships (your GA handicap). This remains the same for the four rounds of the Championships.
The second is your handicap for the Day’s Event. This will change depending on the course being played.
Good luck to all those playing in the Championships!

Next game Liverpool: Round 1 Club Championships
Our next game is the Liverpool game on 11 September at 6.37am. This is the first round of the club championships. Due to the disruptions due to rain this year the Committee has decided not to apply the usual qualifying criteria for Championships, meaning that all members will be eligible for the Championships.
Liverpool’s new system means that they charge us for groups of four rather than the actual number who play. Be aware that if you put your name down and don’t turn up you may be asked to pay the green fees.

The order has been placed for our new jackets and vests. The supplier says they should be delivered in 21 days. Thanks to Kevin for the time and effort he has put in to get this organised.

Kevin is hoping to place an order for the new jackets and vests this week. Please check below for the updated sizes chart. Please check that your size is shown correctly. (For those who haven’t had a chance to try them on I have inserted sizes based on members of a similar size.

Jackets and Vests

Thanks to the grant from Bankstown Sports we are now in a position to order our new spray jackets and vests. The plan is to order a spray jacket and vest for each member. The cost to members is yet to be determined but will be kept to a minimum.
At Springwood yesterday samples were available to check sizes. It seems that the spray jackets are a much smaller make than the vests, so consider this when ordering.
Shown below is a list showing the sizes for those who were at Springwood to try them on. Hopefully this will give those who haven’t ordered yet an opportunity to compare someone of a similar size to determine your own size requirements. Kevin is also holding the samples at his home for the next week. Contact him if you want to pop in and try your size. If your sizes are not shown on the list you need to advise me within the next week of your preferred sizes.

The next game at Springwood is the 2nd round of the 2-ball ambrose.

Very Important: Vest/Jacket sizes
Thanks to the grant received from Bankstown Sports we are in a financial position to purchase a winter vest/jacket for the members. To do this, it is important that you advise me of your style preference (see images) and your size. Please comment in Facebook, email or message me your preferences. Please include your preferred style (vest or jacket) and your size, S, M, L XL, XXL or XXL. Also let me know if you would be interested in purchasing one or both styles.
Kevin and I will be visiting the supplier soon to investigate the options available. Though the actual cost is not known, the grant money means that there will be a significant subsidy provided by the Club.

Camden has advised that carts will be available on Sunday with some restrictions to where they can go.

On visiting Stonecutters Ridge yesterday Kevin was advised that for social groups it is compulsory for all to have carts. This game will therefore be a $60 game for everyone.
Also note small change to tee times following a request for compassionate reasons.

Matchplay draw is available in Competitions page.
Please note late change to last two groups to allow Pierre son to have a game tomorrow.

Start sheet for Bankstown as at 15 June 2022.

Our next game is a stroke event and 3rd round of matchplay at Bankstown on 19 June 2022. As no start sheet was circulated please let me know if you intend to play or not.
Please confirm that your intentions are shown correctly. If not, please let me know as we have to provide final numbers today.

Thanks to the recent grant from the Sports Club the Committee is proposing to purchase winter jackets. as there are a number of styles available they seek your preference and comments about what to buy.

Campbelltown game 24 April 2022
The start sheet for Campbelltown is shown below. Due to the fact that it is the Anzac Day long weekend, Orthodox Easter and Gary Toogood’s 80th birthday we have limited numbers. As a result the 2-ball aggregate will be played at a later date, yet to be advised and Sunday’s game will the an individual stableford.
Please note that this course is particularly tough on bringing alcohol onto the course. You take the risk of being asked to leave the course.

Kevin has been advised by Auburn that the course is closed until further notice. Carts are definitely not allowed. As a result of the uncertainty of the course being opened our game on Sunday is officially cancelled!
Below is the start sheet for Auburn as at 5 April. Unfortunately the weather forecast does not look good again.

Change of events as a result of wet weather cancellations
With the wet weather cancellations some events need to be changed.
- Auburn 10 April 2022 will be played as an individual stableford and Round 2 of the matchplay. Lucky losers matchplay round 1 will also be played. (Note Auburn was meant to be a team event but as no start sheet was circulated moving the 2-ball will give members time to organise their team for the 2-ball championship and allow all matchplay rounds to be played.)
- Campbelltown 24 April 2022 will be played as the first round of the 2-ball championship
- Georges River 1 May 2022 will be played as the second round of the 2-ball championship. (Note this was scheduled as a novelty event but in order for the 2-ball championship to be played it has had to be changed.)
Please let me know as soon as possible if you intend to play Auburn on the 10 April.

The start sheet for Bankstown is shown below. In order to do the Also Rans matchplay draw I need to know your intention to play as soon as possible. Please check that your intentions are shown correctly.

Game cancelled Sunday 27 February: Liverpool golf course is closed for the weekend. See you at The Ridge.

Important information: Change of date
We have just been advised by Cumberland that they have a pennants commitment on 30 January, meaning we are unable to play on the scheduled date. The game will now be played on 6 February at 6.30am. If I don’t hear from you I will assume you are happy to play on the new date. If you are unavailable now please let me know.
Tee times shown below have been significantly changed from the original due to Covid and other requests.
